Shipping policy
Shipping Policy
Last updated: 27th June 2026
This Shipping Policy explains how Hulmara handles production, dispatch, shipping, delivery, customs, and non-arrival.
Every Hulmara piece is made to order. This means your order may require both production time and shipping time before it reaches you.
Please read this policy together with our Terms of Sale and Returns, Refunds & Cancellations Policy. Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights.
1. Made-to-order production
Most Hulmara pieces are produced individually after your order is placed and, where applicable, after your blueprint or specification has been approved.
Production time is separate from shipping time.
Production time begins once the order has been accepted, payment or the agreed instalment has been received, and any required blueprint, specification, finish, or configuration has been approved.
2. Product-specific timelines
Each product page displays the estimated production and shipping timeline for that item.
Because Hulmara sells made-to-order furniture and interior pieces, timelines may vary depending on the product, size, finish, configuration, destination country, shipping method, and whether custom changes are requested.
If a product page shows a specific timeline, that product-page timeline should be treated as the main estimate for that item.
If your order includes multiple items with different timelines, the order may ship when all items are ready, unless separate shipping is agreed in writing.
3. Typical production and shipping estimates
The following timelines are general estimates only. Please check the product page for the most accurate timeline for your item.
|
Product type |
Typical production time |
Typical shipping time |
Typical total estimate |

Beds and large furniture |
4–6 weeks |
Usually 4–5 weeks by sea |
Usually 8–11 weeks |

Small furniture and smaller pieces |
2–3 weeks |
Usually 2–3 weeks |
Usually 4–6 weeks |
These are estimated timelines, not guaranteed delivery dates, unless Hulmara expressly confirms a guaranteed date in writing.
4. Beds and large furniture
Beds and large furniture pieces usually require 4–6 weeks of production.
After production is completed, large pieces are usually shipped by sea freight. Sea shipping usually takes approximately 4–5 additional weeks, depending on the destination, customs clearance, port handling, carrier availability, and final-mile delivery.
Because beds and large furniture are oversized, heavy, and made to order, they usually cannot be shipped by standard express courier.
5. Small furniture and smaller pieces
Small pieces usually require 2–3 weeks of production.
Shipping for small pieces usually takes approximately 2–3 additional weeks, depending on destination, carrier availability, customs clearance, and final-mile delivery.
Some small items may be eligible for faster shipping where available. Any faster option must be confirmed in writing.
6. Verification before dispatch
Before dispatch, Hulmara may provide photographs, videos, or other verification of the finished piece.
This verification is intended to confirm that the piece has been completed according to the approved specification before it is packed and shipped.
If you request changes after verification, and those changes can reasonably be made, this may add approximately 1–10 additional days before dispatch.
More complex changes may require additional time and may involve additional costs. Hulmara is not required to accept changes after production has been completed or substantially completed.
7. Dispatch
Dispatch means the order has been packed and handed over to the carrier, freight forwarder, shipping agent, or delivery partner.
Shipping time begins from the confirmed dispatch date, not from the order date.
For staged-payment orders, Hulmara is not required to dispatch, release, or deliver the item until the full remaining balance has been paid.
8. Delivery Duty Paid shipping
Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing, Hulmara ships international orders on a Delivery Duty Paid basis.
This means Hulmara is responsible for the standard shipping costs, export handling, import customs clearance, import duties, import taxes, and standard customs charges required to deliver the order to the delivery address provided by the customer.
The price paid at checkout or on the invoice includes the standard delivery and import duty arrangement for the destination confirmed at the time of purchase, unless otherwise stated in writing.
Customers should not normally be charged import duties or import taxes by the carrier on delivery for orders shipped Delivery Duty Paid.
If a carrier mistakenly requests import duties or taxes on delivery, please contact Hulmara before making payment so we can review the issue with the carrier.
9. What DDP does not cover
Delivery Duty Paid does not cover costs caused by incorrect, incomplete, or outdated information provided by the customer.
The customer remains responsible for any additional costs, delays, storage charges, redelivery charges, return charges, address correction fees, special access fees, or carrier charges caused by:
- incorrect or incomplete delivery details;
- failed delivery attempts;
- customer unavailability;
- refusal of delivery without valid reason;
- failure to provide information required for customs clearance or delivery;
- special delivery requests not agreed in writing;
- building access restrictions;
- storage requested or caused by the customer;
- changes to the delivery address after dispatch;
- customer-appointed third parties or forwarding agents.
Delivery Duty Paid also does not include installation, assembly, wall fixing, lifting through windows, hoisting, special access equipment, removal of old furniture, or disposal of packaging, unless expressly agreed in writing.
10. Tracking
Where tracking is available, Hulmara will provide tracking information after dispatch.
For sea freight, tracking may not update continuously. It is normal for tracking to remain limited or unchanged while the shipment is in transit, at sea, at port, in customs, or awaiting final-mile handover.
Final-mile tracking usually becomes more detailed once the order reaches the destination country and is handed to the local delivery partner.
11. Delivery methods
Depending on the size, weight, fragility, and destination of your order, delivery may be handled by courier, freight carrier, sea freight partner, pallet delivery service, specialist furniture delivery company, or local final-mile delivery partner.
Large or oversized items may be delivered curbside, to building entrance, by appointment, or through a specialist delivery arrangement, depending on the service available in your destination.
Unless expressly agreed in writing, delivery does not include installation, assembly, wall fixing, carrying items through difficult access routes, hoisting, lifting through windows, removal of old furniture, or disposal of packaging.
12. Delivery address and contact information
You are responsible for providing complete and accurate delivery details, including:
- full name;
- complete delivery address;
- postcode or ZIP code;
- telephone number;
- email address;
- access instructions;
- building, floor, lift, stair, gate, or concierge details where relevant.
Hulmara is not responsible for delays, failed delivery, storage charges, return charges, redelivery charges, address correction fees, or non-delivery caused by incorrect, incomplete, or outdated information provided by you.
13. Access responsibility
Before placing your order, you must ensure that the item can be delivered into the intended property and room.
Please check doorways, corridors, staircases, lifts, ceiling heights, turning space, parking access, building rules, delivery restrictions, and any other access requirements.
Hulmara cannot accept returns, cancellations, or refunds where delivery fails or the item does not fit because of access restrictions, incorrect measurements, unsuitable building conditions, or details approved by the customer.
14. Failed, missed, or refused delivery
If delivery cannot be completed because no one is available, access is unsuitable, delivery is refused without a valid reason, the address is incorrect, or required information has not been provided, additional redelivery, return, storage, or handling charges may apply.
If an item is returned to Hulmara or held by a carrier because delivery failed for reasons outside Hulmara’s control, Hulmara may deduct reasonable costs before issuing any refund that may be due.
15. Customs and import clearance
For Delivery Duty Paid shipments, Hulmara or its logistics partners will normally manage standard export and import clearance and pay standard import duties and taxes required for delivery to the destination confirmed at the time of purchase.
The customer must provide accurate information reasonably required for customs clearance or delivery.
Hulmara is not responsible for delays or additional costs caused by the customer failing to provide requested customs, identity, tax, delivery, or contact information where such information is legally or operationally required.
Customs inspections, import clearance checks, port delays, carrier delays, strikes, severe weather, force majeure events, or other circumstances outside Hulmara’s reasonable control may affect delivery times.
These delays do not automatically create a right to cancel or receive a refund, except where required by applicable law.
16. Delays
Hulmara makes reasonable efforts to meet the estimated timelines shown on product pages and order confirmations.
However, production and shipping estimates are not guaranteed unless expressly confirmed in writing as guaranteed.
Delays may occur due to material availability, workshop scheduling, custom specifications, quality control, requested changes, packaging requirements, carrier availability, sea freight schedules, customs clearance, port congestion, strikes, weather, public holidays, or other events outside Hulmara’s reasonable control.
If a significant delay occurs, Hulmara will make reasonable efforts to keep you informed.
17. Non-arrival
If your order has not arrived within 90 days of the confirmed dispatch date, and the delay is not caused by incorrect shipping information, failed delivery attempts, customs delays, force majeure, customer-side customs information issues, or circumstances outside Hulmara’s reasonable control, you may choose either a full refund or a replacement shipment at no additional cost.
18. Damage in transit
Please inspect your item carefully on delivery.
If there is visible transit damage, please note it on the delivery paperwork where possible and contact Hulmara as soon as possible at contact@hulmara.com.
Please include your order number, photographs of the item, photographs of the packaging, and any delivery documents.
Reporting visible transit damage within 48 hours helps us resolve courier and insurance claims quickly. However, this does not affect your statutory rights if your item is damaged, faulty, incorrect, or not as described.
Please keep all packaging until the matter is resolved.
Transit damage, faulty items, incorrect items, and items not as described are handled under our Returns, Refunds & Cancellations Policy.
19. Risk and ownership
Risk in the goods passes to you when the goods are delivered to the delivery address provided by you, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
Ownership of the goods passes to you only when Hulmara has received full payment of all amounts due.
20. Trade and commercial orders
Trade, interior design, commercial, hospitality, contract, bulk, and business-to-business orders may be subject to separate shipping terms, delivery arrangements, quotations, or written agreements.
Where separate trade or commercial terms are agreed in writing, those terms will take priority over this Shipping Policy where they conflict.
