How It Works
Every Hulmara bed is made to order. Because we build your piece from raw timber before it exists, we offer a staged payment arrangement that protects both you and our workshop: you pay fifty percent at the time of order to begin production, and the remaining fifty percent only after your bed is complete and you have received photographic and video verification of the finished piece.
No application required. No credit check. No third-party financing provider. This arrangement is available to every client, on every order, automatically.
The Process
Select your bed, size, and finish. At checkout, you pay fifty percent of the total order value. This deposit confirms your production slot and reserves your materials. Your order enters our workshop queue immediately.
Your bed is built to your specifications over approximately 30 business days. A dedicated account manager is assigned to your order from this point forward and remains your single point of contact through delivery.
When your bed is complete, our workshop photographs and films the finished piece in detail — showing the construction, finish, colour accuracy, and overall condition. This verification is sent directly to you via email. You review the piece and confirm that the design, dimensions, and finish match your order.
Once you have reviewed and approved the verification media, we issue an invoice for the remaining fifty percent. Payment is due within 7 days of receiving the invoice. Your bed ships once the balance is settled.
Your bed is carefully packed and shipped DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) to your door. All customs duties, import taxes, and documentation are handled by Hulmara. The price you agreed is the price you pay — no additional charges at delivery.
Eligibility
Staged payment is available to all clients on all orders, including bespoke commissions. There is no minimum order value, no application process, and no credit assessment. The arrangement is between you and Hulmara directly — no third-party lender is involved.
Design Changes After Production Has Begun
We understand that preferences evolve. If you wish to modify your order after production has started — for example, changing from a walnut finish to natural oak, or adjusting a dimension — please contact your account manager as early as possible. We will do our best to accommodate the change.
Please note: modifications requested after production has commenced may incur additional costs depending on the nature and timing of the change. If the modification requires sourcing new materials, restarting a production stage, or additional workshop time, your account manager will provide a revised quotation for your approval before proceeding. No additional charge is applied without your explicit written consent.
Cancellation Policy
If you cancel your order before production has commenced, you will receive a full refund of your deposit. Orders may be cancelled free of charge within 48 hours of placement. Between 48 hours and the start of production, cancellation is subject to a 10% administrative fee to cover material reservation and scheduling.
Because your bed is built to your individual specifications using materials purchased and allocated specifically for your order, cancellation after production has begun is subject to the following:
If you cancel after production has started, fifty percent (50%) of your initial deposit is forfeited. The remaining fifty percent of your deposit is refunded to your original payment method within 10 business days.
This policy reflects the reality that once timber has been cut, milled, and finished to your specifications, it cannot be restocked or repurposed for another order. The retained portion covers material costs, workshop labour, and irrecoverable production expenses.
Example: On a $4,695 order, your initial deposit is $2,348. If you cancel after production has started, $1,174 is forfeited and $1,174 is refunded.
What Happens if You Are Not Satisfied at Verification
The video and photo verification stage exists to protect you. If the finished piece does not match your order — wrong finish, wrong dimensions, visible defects, or any deviation from the agreed specification — you are not obligated to approve or pay the balance. We will either:
- Rectify the issue at our expense and send updated verification, or
- Offer a full refund of your deposit if the issue cannot be resolved to your satisfaction.
Our commitment is straightforward: if the fault is ours, we bear the cost. The verification record — timestamped photography and video — serves as an objective reference for both parties.
Important distinction: this protection applies when the delivered product does not match the agreed specification. It does not apply to change-of-mind decisions after a correctly built piece has been completed. If your bed has been built exactly as ordered and you no longer wish to proceed, the cancellation policy above applies.
Accepted Payment Methods
Both the initial deposit and the final balance can be paid by any of the following methods:
- Credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express)
- Apple Pay or Google Pay
- Shop Pay
- Direct bank transfer (SWIFT / SEPA — details provided on invoice)
For orders above $10,000 or multi-piece commissions, alternative payment structures can be arranged. Please contact your account manager to discuss.
European Union — Consumer Rights
For orders shipped to the European Union, the 14-day cooling-off period under EU Directive 2011/83/EU applies to standard collection pieces. This right does not extend to bespoke or customised orders, which are exempt under Article 16(c) as goods manufactured to the consumer's personal specifications.
The staged payment arrangement does not affect or limit any statutory consumer rights available in your jurisdiction.
